Shopping! (originally posted July 10)

Today I'm going to shop for ingredients. In the spirit of Nadiya's book, I'm going to look for ingredients that are read-made as much as possible. I'll be shopping for the first 3 breakfast recipes, which should stretch for 4 meals, if not five. I'm excited to make something other than oatmeal (with nut-butter, honey and raisins) or scrambled eggs with GF/DF toaster waffles, or bananas with nut-butter and honey, which my son makes himself. :) We get stuck in a routine, and it's OK, but I'd like to expand our family palate.

The challenge:

  • vegan, gluten-free croissants

  • vegan, gluten free naan

  • a suitable nightshade-free substitute for rose harissa

  • a non-tofu, yummy protein substitute for eggs

  • plain coconut yogurt

Since my local health food store has many things, but not the above items, I'll be going to Whole Foods in Manhattan. I'll let you know how it works out!

Let the adventure begin!

XOXO

Rebekah

Update: the only item from the above list that I found at Whole Foods was the plain coconut yogurt, but that in itself was worth the trip. It MADE the recipe!!! Also, I spent almost $40 on ingredients for this blog, and the recipes I made over the course of the week lasted for the entire week! It was well worth it! I'm still sad about not finding the other items, but I'm not done with this journey yet! :)
